How do I model a permanent magnet?

Permanent magnets are in principle not supported in SEMCAD X (as of version 16.4)

The only exception is at low frequencies, when using the Magneto Static Vector Potential solver. There, a cylindrical current source can be applied (see section Cylindrical Surface Current Sources of the user manual).

This effectively models a solenoid, which creates a magnetic field in the same way an "ideal" permanent magnet would. The strength of the generated magnetic field (B) is related to the surface current density (J) by the formula: B = mu_0 * J, where mu_0 is the permeability in vacuum.

Since J is in unit of A/m, B is in Tesla.
