ARES crashes immediately on startup
-
It is very likely that the crash is due to a corrupted setting file of ARES. The simplest way to fix it is to simply delete all the setting files and start ARES again.
The settings files should be located here:
C:\Users\Public\Documents\AresApplication\3.2
You can safely delete all the files and folders in that directory.
Edit (thanks @elliott): in many cases it is sufficient to delete only JobList.h5
-
I've found that it is often sufficient to just delete the following two files, which allows one to keep their Ares preferences intact:
- History.h5
- JobList.h5
edit: was wrong filename
