    Hello,

I would like to check how to provide input (edge source) for a slot monopole antenna with a shortened ground plane (images attached).
I have followed the patch antenna tutorial but not sure how to work with this ground plane

    Thanks,

You could make the substrate the same size of the ground plane and shorten the patch microstrip line, so that you could still draw an axis-aligned polyline which connects microstrip line and ground plane (as in the microstrip-fed patch antenna tutorial).

        Hi,

Thank you. But that would make the ground plane the same size of the substrate face. The paper suggests having a smaller ground plane to improve the power transmitted

Then you can keep the substrate as it is and translate the edge source (polyline) along the microstrip line until it also touches the ground plane (keeping it always axis-aligned).
